In psychology, the term is defined as a social concept that refers to equal group outcomes, equitable treatment, comparable access, or lack of bias.  However, "fairness" has a different legal meaning in different contexts. For example, the EU Charter of fundamental Rights, US Civil Rights Act (1957 and 1964), Americans with Disability Act (1990), UK Equal Pay Act (1970), Sex Discrimination Act (1975), UK Equality Act 2010 all have there own definitions of fairness.
